Política de privilegio de sobregiro discrecional de JetStream Federal Credit Union

Effective 6/1/2026

At JetStream Federal Credit Union, we understand that unexpected overdrafts can happen from time to time. As a courtesy to eligible members, we may provide Overdraft Privilege, a discretionary service that may allow us to pay certain transactions when there are insufficient available funds in your account.

This policy explains how Overdraft Privilege works and outlines your responsibilities as an account owner.

What is Overdraft Privilege?

Overdraft Privilege is not a line of credit and does not guarantee that overdrafts will be paid. It is a discretionary overdraft service that may permit the Credit Union to pay certain transactions presented against insufficient available funds in your account. This service can help avoid declined transactions, returned checks, and merchant returned-item fees.

If you do not have sufficient available funds in your account to cover a transaction, JetStream FCU may, at its sole discretion, choose to pay the item rather than return or decline it.

The payment of any overdraft is a discretionary courtesy and does not create an obligation for JetStream FCU to pay future overdrafts.

Eligibility Requirements

Consumer checking accounts used primarily for personal and household purposes may be eligible for Overdraft Privilege if the account:

  • Has been open for at least 30 days;
  • Is maintained in good standing;
  • If the account has a negative balance, it must be brought to a positive available balance within 30 calendar days and remain positive for at least 24 consecutive hours;
  • Is not delinquent on any loan or obligation with JetStream FCU; and
  • Is not subject to legal or administrative orders, garnishments, or levies.

Meeting these requirements does not guarantee that overdrafts will be paid.

How Overdrafts Are Determined

An overdraft occurs when you do not have enough available funds in your account to cover a transaction.

We may use your available balance to determine whether a transaction will overdraw your account. Your available balance may be less than your actual account balance due to pending transactions, debit card authorizations, holds, or other restrictions on funds.

Overdraft Coverage Limit

Eligible checking accounts may receive standard Overdraft Privilege coverage up to $500.00.

The Overdraft Privilege limit includes all applicable fees and charges, including overdraft and non-sufficient funds (NSF) fees assessed in accordance with the Credit Union's Fee Schedule.

The Credit Union reserves the right to increase, decrease, suspend, or revoke an account's Overdraft Privilege limit at any time and without prior notice.

Revocation

Overdraft Privilege may be suspended or revoked at any time and for any reason, including but not limited to, the following:

  • You fail to maintain current contact information on file with the Credit Union, preventing us from contacting you by telephone, email, or U.S. mail;
  • We receive notification from USPS via returned mail that your address is no longer valid;
  • You have caused the Credit Union an unresolved loss;
  • The Credit Union has been notified that you are in bankruptcy;
  • The Credit Union has initiated repossession or foreclosure on any loan held at the Credit Union;
  • You have been notified that you are a Member Not In Good Standing as defined in the Membership Agreement and Disclosures.

If you are no longer eligible for Overdraft Privilege or if Overdraft Privilege has been revoked, transactions may be returned to merchants or other third parties as “unpaid.”

Eligible Transactions

Overdraft Privilege may apply to:

  • Checks
  • ACH/electronic transactions
  • Recurring debit card transactions
  • Bill payments

ATM withdrawals and everyday debit card transactions are not covered unless you have separately opted in to Overdraft Privilege Plus coverage for those transaction types, as required by Regulation E and other applicable federal regulations.

Overdraft Forgiveness

To help members avoid Overdraft Privilege (ODP) fees, JetStream FCU offers Overdraft Forgiveness.

How Overdraft Forgiveness Works

When an Overdraft Privilege transaction occurs, the associated overdraft fee may be held in a pending status instead of being charged immediately. This gives you additional time to bring your account back to a positive available balance.

If your available balance is restored to a positive amount by the applicable forgiveness cutoff time, eligible overdraft fees will be automatically forgiven.

Transaction Period

The daily overdraft privilege fee transaction period begins at 3:01 p.m. ET and ends at 3:00 p.m. ET the following day.

  • Transactions posted between 3:01 p.m. ET on the previous day and 3:00 p.m. ET on the current day must be covered by the 6:30 p.m. ET forgiveness cutoff on the current day.
  • Transactions posted after 3:00 p.m. ET today will fall into the next transaction period and will have until 6:30 p.m. ET tomorrow to qualify for forgiveness.

Forgiveness Cutoff Time

The daily forgiveness cutoff time is 6:30 p.m. ET.

If your available balance is positive by the Forgiveness Cutoff Time (6:30 p.m. ET), eligible pending Overdraft Privilege (ODP) fees associated with that transaction period will be forgiven. Additional transactions, holds, or other account activity occurring before the forgiveness cutoff time may affect your available balance and your eligibility for fee forgiveness.

If your available balance remains negative after the forgiveness cutoff time, applicable Overdraft Privilege (ODP) fees may be posted to your account.

Partial Deposits

If a deposit made before the forgiveness cutoff time only partially covers the overdraft amount:

  • Available funds will be applied to overdraft transactions in the order the transactions originally posted to the account.
  • Fees associated with fully covered transactions may be forgiven.
  • Fees associated with transactions that remain uncovered may still be assessed.

Honorarios

If we pay an overdraft item, your account will be charged the standard Overdraft/NSF fee disclosed in our current Fee Schedule.

Your Responsibility to Repay Overdrafts

Any overdraft balance, including fees, is due immediately. You are responsible for promptly repaying all overdraft amounts.

All account owners and authorized signers are jointly and severally responsible for repayment obligations.

Important Disclosures

The terms and conditions of the Deposit Account Agreement and Disclosure provided to you at the time your account was established, together with any amendments thereto, govern the relationship between you and the Credit Union and control in the event of any inconsistency between those documents and this Discretionary Overdraft Privilege Policy. Copies of the Deposit Account Agreement and Disclosure are available upon request.

Overdraft Privilege and Overdraft Forgiveness are discretionary services provided as a benefit to eligible members.

Neither service creates a contractual obligation on the part of JetStream FCU to pay overdrafts or forgive fees. Payment of any overdraft or forgiveness of any overdraft fee does not obligate JetStream FCU to pay future overdrafts or forgive future fees.

JetStream FCU reserves the right to refuse payment of any overdraft, assess applicable fees, modify the terms of these services, or discontinue either service at any time without prior notice.

Alternatives to Overdraft Privilege

We encourage members to consider alternatives that may help avoid overdrafts and fees, including:

  • Linking a savings account for FREE overdraft transfers
  • Enrolling in digital banking account alerts or balance notifications
  • Monitoring balances through digital banking
  • Applying for a personal line of credit and link for overdraft protection, if available, for qualified borrowers – Learn more.
