JetStream Federal Credit Union has introduced Passkey login functionality into our digital banking platform. This innovative update is designed to make logging in faster, simpler, and far more secure than ever before - no more forgotten passwords or security questions.

Here’s everything you need to know about Passkeys and how they will enhance your JetStream digital banking experience.

What is a Passkey?

A Passkey is a modern, password-free login solution that uses biometrics (like Face ID or fingerprint), device PINs, or other secure methods to verify your identity. Instead of typing in a traditional password, you can sign in with a single tap or scan—just like unlocking your smartphone.

Why Are Passkeys More Secure Than Passwords?

No Password = No Phishing

Since Passkeys don't rely on manually typed passwords, they cannot be stolen in phishing attacks. That means you won’t accidentally give away your login details in a suspicious email or fake website.

Protected by Your Device

Each Passkey is unique to the device you're using, and it's stored securely on that device. Even if someone gets hold of your username, they wouldn't be able to log in without your device - and your biometric or PIN.

Backed by Trusted Technology

Passkeys are built using industry-standard encryption protocols and are supported by major tech platforms, so they work across phones, tablets, laptops, and desktops.

How Will Passkeys Work at JetStream?

When Passkeys are enabled in your JetStream Digital Banking app or online banking, you'll be able to:

• Register a trusted device (like your smartphone or computer)
  
  
• Log in using Face ID, fingerprint, or device PIN
  
  
• Skip typing passwords entirely
  
  

It’s simple. Once you've set it up, all you'll need to do is authenticate on your device, and you're in.

Ready to Get Started?

Be sure your mobile app is updated to version 5.12.

From our mobile app, type in your username and password, and select “Sign in with passkey”.  Your device will prompt you to authenticate your request using your face, fingerprint, or PIN.

Using a desktop?  Have your mobile device ready or create a security key using a USB.

You Passkey will only be shared across your linked devices. 

Still Prefer Passwords? No Problem

Passkeys will be optional, so if you prefer logging in the traditional way, you’ll still be able to do so. We’re simply giving you a safer, smarter option.
